I stopped in here while my car was being serviced at Sullivan Tire down the street. I would have given 5 stars but this place is a bit pricey. I got a slice of pepperoni, their slice special, and a soda for $10. However the slices are huge! You need 2 paper plates sometimes to carry the pizza. It was very tasty and high quality thin crust pizza. Their slice special for the day had Fiesta flavored chicken, corn, scallions, and beans. Very different from standard cheese or pepperoni. The place was very clean and orderly. Three young women were working behind the counter. All were attentive and helpful. I also love it when I see the staff getting along with each other. I would definitely return in the future!

Damn good pie with a chunky tomato sauce, fresh garlic, and pepperoni. Where the pie really kills it though is the crust which is perfectly thin, crisp, and buttery. I ordered my pizza well done which proved to be a good choice. Total, I think the two topping pizza $15.70 which doesn't seem bad for the quality you're getting. If they delivered I would go there more often!

Ive only had slices of pizza and a meatball sub here but everything was very good. The meatball sub was on handmade bread which was delish. The pizza is thin crust with slightly sweet tomato sauce.

Yum. My go-to pizza place. It's a little on the expensive side, but when you want consistently good pizza, Sweet Tomatoes is the place to go. They are flexible about allowing you to split a pie with 2 different toppings. Try the calzones too!

This is my go-to pizza shop in the area. Bubbling fresh cheese, sweet tomatoes and beautifully crisp thin crust. Yum! I also love the salad selection. My favorite is the arugula salad. You can get slices at lunch and they have a great drink selection as well. Call ahead or walk in!

I'm sad I can't remember the girls name that helped me but I must say she's a gem. I was visiting Newton for my first time and on my way to Sweet Tomatoes my phones died. Luckily I remembered I was only 2 more miles away on the right lol and hungry enough to keep going. I arrived well after closing and not only was I still welcomed in but they still had a warm pizza for me! I apologized to the girl helping me and let her know that my phone that's why I was late but that I also didn't know how to get back to my hotel. Not only did she try to get my phone charged but when she couldn't find a charger for my phone she hand wrote the directions for me....THATS customer service!! Down to the nitty gritty-White pizza...mozzarella/asiago/ricotta/garlic/DELICIOUS!!! It's literally everything you imagine in a white pizza...salty/buttery/garlicky/savory/finger licking good! Day 2 I returned for the same pizza but this time with shrimp on it...STUPID GOOD! The owner was in that day with her cute baby and I let her know how helpful her employee was (she was actually there too so I pointed her out as I didn't remember her name then either) #StonerProblems LOL then told her their pizzas were the sh*t! I'll DEFINITELY be back on my return trip in a few months and hopefully the girl that helped me will be a manger...she surely has the potential to be!!

Had this pizza for lunch today, very tasty but slices are very small which can be misleading.

My all time favorite pizza. Thin crust, fresh ingredients. Working so close has been dangerous. Along with pizza they have fabulous salads and sandwiches. They have cheese, pepperoni and a pizza of the day available for slices. Often compared to Upper Crust but I like it much better.

Ordered a medium sweet tomatoes pie with pepperoni, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and peppers. It was delicious! For the pizza, I give it 4 stars. For the service, I give it 1 star because we waited 45 minutes to get our pizza when we were told it would take 20 minutes only. Turned out the cashier didn't tell the cook that our pizza was for here instead of take out despite us telling her 3 times, so that is why our pizza sat in the pizza box for a while until we finally asked the cashier how much longer the pizza will take. The cook did apologize (but not the cashier) and that is why I didn't give it 0 stars. Update: Came here a second time to give it another try. Ordered the same pizza on the phone. Gentleman on the phone was very nice. Food came out fresh and on time. Did not see the girl from my first visit. Hence, changed my rating to 4 stars now.

Got plain slices at $3 each. Used a Clipper Magazine coupon for a free plain slice with the purchase of two slices. They were fine. I didn't like the chunky tomatoes and the crust was soggy. I'd try it again- maybe order a fresh pizza- but this first try wasn't anything to get excited about.

I can't believe people love this place. This pizza is consistently inedible to me. Under-cooked, no crispiness, soggy almost immediately, and the tomato chunks instead of sauce - just not good pizza.

I call Sweet Tomatoes my "favorite boutique pizza place". A little different than your regular pizza joint.. thin crust, interesting toppings and HUGE slices! Give it a whirl if you want something different from a " _______ House of Pizza" style pizza place. Cute store, too.

  • MB M.

Meh...my toddlers like the cheese pizza but other than picking up a last minute slice for the kids when I am running late I skip Sweet Tomatoes. I have found that the pizza is often undercooked leaving the crust soggy. While the specialty pizza options sound great in the menu, they don't seem to meet expectations. It is too bad because it is so close to home.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Delicious slices available every weekday...homemade dough...only negative is that there are no special slices on the weekends. A slice of cheese might be $3; but it's 1/4 of the pizza!! Hands down one of my favorite pizza places in the area

  • Michelle C.

Yummy thin crust pizza. Everything is always fresh here and now they make sandwiches too! the sauce could use some work, but it's okay. The cesar salad is my favorite, with big parmesan shavings, make sure to get extra croutons, they only give you a little cup of them.

This pizza is delicious! and so conveniently located in Newton Centre near the T. My boyfriend called in a pick up order, picked me up from the T, picked up the pizza which was ready by the time we got there and still hot. The cold sodas and waters to go are a benefit to this take out spot as well. We both thought the large pizza was a generous size. The crust is tin but not too crispy. We order half cheese, half pepperoni and were both extremely happy.

After being coldly informed at the new Charcoal Guido's that they don't do slices, I decided to give this place a whirl since the Upper Crust is no longer in Waltham. I enjoyed their regular pizza, they live up to their namesake as the tomatoes were sweet and chunky, which is great because I feel like too many places have pulpy sauce. I usually don't like thin-crust pizza (I was never a Grimaldi's boy in NY either) but they do it pretty well, and it wasn't searing hot so no burnt tongue. While other pizzerias are above doling out slices, I'll make this my regular spot.

Great for a staple pizza place! Decently priced, good portions, very yummy pizza, great/quick customer service! I would definitely recommend them!

  • Jason H.

pizza always ready to be picked up when they say it will be, the arugula and beat salad rocks. Best part of the pizza is the sauce... recommend they consider adding a bit more corn meal to the bottom of the bread or offer a wheat crust to make the bread more memorable. loving that this place is in west newton

I work right down the street and I get lunch from Sweet Tomatoes at least twice a week. Great pizza and sandwiches. The best pizza I've had in the area.

  • David B.

Sweets has pretty good pizza..kinda pricey but ya know. .it was pretty good. The sauce was tasty and the crust was cooked just right. This place has the best pizza here in the three corner area. Parking of course is a challenge so save yourself some aggravating hunting and just park behind the CVS store and cross the street.

I really wish I knew what was wrong (what went wrong) with Sweet Tomatoes...but after years of liking their pizza it's just no good any longer. My wife and I have said several times over the past year or two that it's just NOT GOOD...and the last time we had it we decided it would be our last. We used to call this place our favorite and now it's just meh (and expensive for just meh). Our new go-to place (even though further to drive) is Max & Leo's in Newton Corner. Quality pizza there with nice people.

The pizza is really gooood the best I had in newton

  • Sean P.

When the pizza is good here, it's great. The problem with Sweet Tomatoes is that they're extremely inconsistent. If you're ordering a cheese pizza, order it without asiago cheese. It's about 100 times better that way. Salads are pre-made and sitting in the refrigerator. Not made to order. That said, they are pretty good. Two stars.

I am new to the area (like have ben here for one day new) and figured the first priority needed to be to find a local pizza joint to serve as my new go-to when I am avoiding my kitchen. Not having a pizza fallback is like being on a ship without a life raft on board ... not safe in my world. I was sold on trying this place when I could smell the fresh garlic from the end of the block. YUM! The interior is very quaint with only four tables. I loved that you could see them working on homemade dough right in front of you. The menu had a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, and salads that all sounded tasty. We decided to split the chicken pesto sandwich and a pizza, but to my dismay they were out of bread. Bummed yes, but hard to be mad when I know that keeping fresh ingredients in-house sometimes means running out of stock. We chose to stick with the old faithful combo of pepperoni, sausage, and fresh basil. We were not disappointed! The crust was thin and crispy with a homemade chunky sauce (they offer a kids sauce too which is blended for those that don't do tomato chunks). I can be pretty particular about my sauce to cheese ratio, and they hit it right on the head. Well balanced flavors kept you wanting more and the fresh basil was the perfect finishing touch. I couldn't image their thin pizza holding up on a car ride home without getting so soggy it falls awkwardly limp in your hand, but enough people were ordering to-go that I must be wrong and will definitely be testing it for myself!

Great Pizza but I will no longer be getting any salad from there. Definitely over priced, got the Greek salad with chicken $10.70. There was something's missing, some red onions, more cucumbers and some other veggies for that price and maybe some more feta cheese since it is a greek salad. I would have expected a piece of bread to go with that $11 dollar salad.

With pizza, everybody has a different opinion of what's good. I like a strong tasting tomato sauce, tasty cheese and thin crust. Sweet Tomato has a great thin crust. The tomato sauce is chunky which is fine but has no taste. The cheese has no taste. We had a large mushroom and a large plain pizza. There were five of us eating ranging in age from 8-87. No one really liked it. It is edible but we will avoid this place for pizza. The service was great and very friendly.

  • Chandy S.

So, I'm a New Yorker right? That's why they can't have more than 3 stars here. $3 for a slice? Really Sweet Tomatoes? I understand that the slices are the size of my face, but come on! The pizza is pretty tasty, my only complaint (aside from the price) is that the pizza reheats like trash.

    (3)
  • Christina G.

I think this place is adorable and love the great pizza combinations they offer. I really wanted to like it, but sad to say I wasn't a fan. Our salad was fine, but perhaps our mistake was ordering one of the specialty pies and not just sticking with something plain and simple. We got one that had pesto on it. The pesto flavor was way too over-powering and the pie literally had pools of oil that soaked right through the crust, making it a mushy, oily mess that left me feeling not so hot afterward. It might just be that particular pie, since I've seen some cautionary reviews about the "pesto splash" and I think that may be what we ordered.

We had a fabulous experience at Sweet Tomatoes. We called ahead for 2 large pizzas for our daughter's small birthday party, which we had at the restaurant. The woman at the counter was really attentive and helpful and the pizza had a wonderful thin crust with tomato chunks in the sauce - soooo yummy!

I really enjoy their thin crust, I love a crunchy crust. I also love that they have seasonal specials, in the summer I HIGHLY recommend you get the lobster pizza it will blow your mind. What they have currently is the Harvest Pizza, amazing. I love this place

  • Upper East Side Rob ..

Consistently great, tasty, FRESH pizza. The Pesto Splash is my absolute favorite. If you eat in, you'll find the individual slices are massive. They also offer a Slice of The Day which is often awesome. Salads are available. The super thin crust is delicious! 1/2 star off for being slightly pricey.

  • Misti M.

I gave this place a chance again after being disappointed multiple times over the past few years. Still disappointing. Thin crust pizza but they can't seem to get it crisp, even if you ask for it like that. The chicken topping was blah and dry. I will not be bothering with this place ever again. I don't recommend it unless you like bad pizza.

  • Kyle D.

I got a couple of slices from their food truck in Boston. It is alright, nothing to do cartwheels over. The cheese slice is 3.00 dollars and although the tomatoes are sweet, it was a little greasy. I also got the bbq chicken pizza. This slice had smoked pulled chicken, good barbecue sauce, and gouda cheese. It cost 4.00 dollars. I waited about 5 minutes for my food, which was not bad. I will probably go back to this food truck when I need food quickly, and I would go to their regular locations if I am in the area.

  • Lauren G.

We ordered sweet tomatoes for an event at The Paint Bar. Sandwiches were really good, I had a chicken club which was really good. My coworkers raved about the chicken parm and meatball. 2 coworkers got Caesar salads and I think it left a little to be desired.. We also ordered a whoopie pie platter which was awesome! I would definitely order from them again for another event

  • Liliya M.

The first time I had Sweet Tomatoes, I was really impressed, but recently I feel like the food there has become lackluster. The salad portions (Spinach & Arugula) are really small, the eggplant parm sandwich is on the tasteless side, and the whatever they use under the pizza (they look, taste like tiny corn bits) are really uncomfortable to chew on (they hurt your teeth!). To add to the food being kind of meh, the manager woman is definitely on the cold side and even charged me extra for a small piece of bread to go with my tiny salad. Come on, now.

  • Sue J.

I love the pizza here. Espeically the harvest one. Yeah it has fruit on it , apples and cranberries, but it just works!! I don't understand why its always empty. I guess thats good as I don't have to wait long. The owner is nice at this location. the one in newton center is kinda a bit bitchy so check out the west newton location. The pizza is awesome

  • Van S.

They get a four star for serving a better than average "pizza joint" pizza. The crust is very thin and that sets it apart from the tons of mediocre stuff out there. The sauce was a chunky tomato style which is not my favorite. Other than the chunks there was no other sign of sauce. I also like the amount of cheese they used, it was covered in cheese but not too heavy, Just enough to make a nice balance. They had a mishap and offered to cook me another pizza that was not as well done but I like my pizza with a little char, so no harm done. Staff was normal friendly staff. It rates higher than what I can get in Albany (other than Bacchus) (why do we have so much crappy pizza in Albany)

  • Victor V.

Super Nom Nom Nom!!! Portabello Mushroom & Kalamata Olives for the win... what an unique combination suggested by my newtonville host. =) The sauce was one of its kind and had tomato chunks in it. This is the ONLY pizza shop that has a crispy thin crust right out of the oven. I will miss this place lots!

  • Drew H.

What more can I say about good thin crust pizza! It's like comfort food. We're regular customers. We frequent both Newton and the Needham locations. I just wish there were more tables at the Newton locations.

  • Erica C.

I have had it with this place! Overpriced pizza and salads served with attitude every time. Be warned, you might even show up to pick up your pizza and realize it has been burnt to a crisp because the pizza girl was too busy chatting it up with customers, then wait for another 15 minutes AND then be asked to pay for it! Are you kidding me? I am not a free loader, but come on that is the least they could have done. There are way better options out there.

Best pizza I have found so far in the area. I have to admit I am a fan of their "kids sauce." It is the same recipe but blended so it's not super chunky like their normal sauce.

  • Bill S.

Very good thin crust cheese pizza. Get the large though, the medium is quite small for the price, only reason for 4 stars....

    (4)
  • Sishab S.

Average tasting pizza! I have had much tastier Neapolitan pizzas before. Crust really thin and very nice. Sauce was basically whole tomatoes from can! Salad: baby spinach + raw (not roasted) walnuts + dried cranberries + little bit of goat cheese : no effort was put to make the salad anything special. Every thing directly from bags, packages and cans!

    (2)
  • Jen T.

This is by far the best pizza in the area. Fresh, flavorful ingredients and huge, thin, floppy slices- just the way pizza should be. Luckily, since the pies are gigantic, this pizza stands the test of time and is good the next day, or the day after that hot OR cold. They are also more than happy to make a vegan (red/cheeseless) pie for me! This is definitely a must try if you're in the area... or a good reason to find yourself on this side of town.

  • Joshua M.

One time while I was working late at my last job, my boss offered me some leftovers from Sweet Tomatoes. I sill remember the cool logo on the pizza box. As for the pizza itself, it was some really top-notch PIE. Im a big fan of thin-sliced pizza. But memory is fleeting and I can't remember specific details of the flavor profile....as my memory fades Sweet Tomatoes becomes the fantasy pizza I always desire.

  • Peter R.

I used to think that Upper Crust had good thin crust pizza. Then I tried Sweet Tomatoes. I'm a big tomato guy in general, so tasting their chunky, unadulterated tomato topping is a real pleasure. Their slices of the day are often vegetarian, which is cool. I'm not a vegetarian, but it seems like every slice of the day at Upper Crust is sausage or salami or prosciutto... Don't get me wrong - those are all great toppings, but sometimes the veggie options are easier on the stomach. I might just stop by again after work today. Thanks Sweet Tomatoes!

  • Kathy M.

They make my favorite greek salad with chicken in the area. Pizza is pretty good too-i like their pepperoni/sausage and olive combo best. I had the pesto/tomato pizza and wasn't really impressed with that one though. It was pretty bland.

Twice in one week. Loving the thin, hot crust and excellent veggie options.

Just went her last week for the first time. It was pretty good I must say. We got a large hawaiian and it was really good and huge. So much left over and we tend to eat a lot of pizza. The canadian bacon was great and filling. My husband loved the sauce, it was almost like chucks of tomatoes. We'll be going back. It's good and nice staff. They don't deliver which stinks, and there are only a couple tables there to eat. So it's more of a take out kinda place.

I LOVE Sweet Tomatoes! I am sure the Newton Centre and other locations are fine too, but I have never been there, so this is just based on the West Newton location. Many days, the owner is there, which is always a good sign for a (somewhat) small business. This place really makes quality pizza and takes pride in their product. I've never had a sub-par slice or customer service experience here. Some people might complain that the prices are high for slices ($3 for cheese, $3.50 for Pepperoni, $4 for Slice of the Day), but the slices are 1. BETTER than regular $2 slices that a regular generic pizza place offers and 2. BIGGER than regular $2 slices that a regular generic pizza place offers. Instead, Sweet Tomatoes offers amazing variety in the Slice of Day. Personal fave is the Pesto Splash, but I've tried everything from Chicken Fajita to Mushroom and Ricotta to Sausage and Onion and I've never been disappointed. You can tell by the taste that the ingredients are totally fresh, and the crust is always super crispy with just the right about of tomato chunks. They have a HUGE menu of pizza offerings, but I have always just gotten the slices. They also offer delicious-looking salads and sandwiches, but I've never tried them. Bonus: No minimum for credit/debit charges :-) Go try it!!!!!!

Delicious. Probably second only to Picco on my list for best pizza in the metroplex. They do pizza just the way I like it: thin and flavorful. The red is good, the white is good. The cons: it's a little on the expensive side, doesn't deliver, and I wish there was another one closer to my apt. Nevertheless, everytime I'm on this side of town I fight the urge to take a pie home. Definitely worth it.

The. Best. Pizza. Love Sweet Tomatoes (both in West Newton and Newton Center, and a new one in Needham). TERRIFIC thin crust pizza. Lots of interesting specialty pizzas. A couple recent finds: White Greek (spinach, fresh garlic, feta - savory) and Santa Fe Chicken (marinated chicken, black beans, corn, scallions). The only place that can use eggplant on a pizza and make it taste good, or at least acceptable :-) I go in at lunch once a week for their Slice of the Day (only available until 4PM); always a treat.

  • Dave B.

The best pizza I've found in this area. I got a simple marguerite and it was perfect. Lightly sauced. The harvest pizza is my favorite.

  • Robo T.

Delicious neopolitan (think Bertucci's) style pizza. Crust is thin, sauce is delicious and chunky and toppings are fresh. I had an eggplant, green pepper, extra sauce and light cheese (I'm super picky, I know) pie that was prepared PERFECTLY. A lot of places screw up the light cheese thing but ST's execution was flawless. I was really impressed.

  • Kylie B.

In terms of local pizza chains, Sweet Tomatoes pwns Upper Crust. This location affords a nice view of a Y intersection so you can see cars zoom by, but limited tables. The drinks are at your right when you walk in against the same wall as the door so they are hard to spot. They actually have Naked Soda if you're interested. It was pretty yummy and clear!

  • Dennis L.

Sweet Tomatoes offers a very balanced pizza. It takes a while to make the pizza, but they offer a very consistent Neapolitan pizza. What they offer there is the closest fix I can get to a grilled pizza somewhat reasonably near my house. They are very generous with the toppings. The cook present was very meticulous with his method, including how he lays out the romano cheese. The simple toppings instead of 'mystery sauces' conveys the nature of the place. I come here for a chicken and artichoke pizza at times, but my sister loves the Hawaiian pizza offered, using actual Canadian bacon instead of just ham with the pineapple. Why does it feel like pulling teeth in this day and age for a restaurant to use simple ingredients? Yet, it feels natural here. The dining room offers a few seats inside and on the sidewalk, but largely, it is a takeout pizza place. It is on the pricier side for a single pizza, but you pay for the quality. A large easily feeds 3 large appetites. Make sure you have space on your passenger seat to fit the huge monster of a box. Dishes to try: White clam pizza, any pizza with artichokes

This pizza is seriously to die for, honestly one of the best made pizzas I have ever eaten. Just thinking about it makes me hungry

  • Annie I.

i love the classic cheese, as well as the sausage and black olive pizza. they make the most delicious greek and ceasar salads with grilled chicken. i caution anyone looking at the pesto splash or other white pizzas--they really upset my stomach. i think it is because it is basically just bread and grease.

Sweet Tomatoes = OM NOM NOM NOM! I was lucky enough to work nearby to Sweet Tomatoes for a little bit, so there were quite a few days of running over there to grab some lunch. Their slices are BIG! Crust is nice and thin, so be aware this big slice won't fill you up as much as other big slices. However, your taste buds will thank you for consuming such a tasty slice of pizza. Their sauce is excellent -- a little bit sweet, with big chunks of tomato in it as well. I also got their spinach salad a lot, and that was also quite tasty -- with walnuts and dried cranberries and goat cheese. YUMMY! I will say that my favorite FAVORITE pizza of theirs is their spinach leaf red pizza -- it's wonderfully garlic-y and fresh, and since it's a red pizza (w/ red sauce but no cheese) it's not greasy at all. Unfortunately this location doesn't have a lot of tables, so you're better off getting your food to go unless you go at an off hour where you miss the lunch and dinner crowds! Definitely grab a slice or a whole pie and see for yourself how tasty it is (and affordable!).

  • Faris S.

While they occasionally screw up my order, whether it be a a pizza with different toppings or a pepperoni slice instead of pesto, they're Neapolitan style is one of a kind that you can't really get anywhere else.

  • Dee H.

I am still a fan of the pizza, no doubt. The ratio of cheese with the awesome sauce full of chunks of plump tomatoes is perfect. The crust started out nice and thin the way I like it, but over time they've been making it noticeably thicker. A note to STP, please go back to your roots and be special again.

I am utterly convinced that pizza is the most perfect food. So I am horrified to see it done an injustice (Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc). Sweet Tomatoes must agree with my personal philosophy. Their pizza is delicious. And, even better, it is colossal. I love the Feta Pesto pizza. So pesto-y and feta-y and delectable. Not that I have ever had a bad piece of pizza at Sweet Tomatoes, this one just stands out in my mind. My office is also now hooked thus making me an ambassador to Delicious. The shop itself is not in the most driver-friendly location. But it is worth it. I have walked from downtown Waltham to get pizza there. Thank God I had some today and have leftovers in my fridge. Now that I am writing this, I am craving it again.

I really enjoy their thin crust neopolitan-style pizza. For a "chain," it's much better pizza than Upper Crust. Okay, with 3 locations, it's not exactly a chain the way Upper Crust is. However, if you're in Newton, I think there are places that serve better pies like Maria di Napoli and my favourite, Fiorella's. I just wish they would serve pizza by the slice at all hours.

  • l. a.

Sweet Tomatoes is my favorite pizza joint in Newton. A little on the expensive side, but I love all of their pizza options. The harvest pizza is DELISH. After going to both Sweet T and Upper Crust quite a few times, I've decided that this place is definitely my preference. Only con - terrible parking in W Newton. Wish there was a lot of some sort.

The pizza is very, very good and the staff is extremely friendly. I've been buying pizza here on average once a week for the last two years. I know most of the staff and I enjoy the warm welcome and familiar smile each week when I return. The "traditional" pizzas like cheese, pepperoni, sausage & pepper are all very good. I really like the white clam for a change of pace. It is a little pricey, but well worth it for a big step above chain store / fast food pizza.

  • Jason F.

got the buffalo chicken pizza here, really good. i am more of a deep dish pizza guy, but i'll do thin crust if i am being healthy. the large was huge, the two of us could barely eat half of it. I think its mostly a take out place, but i would definitely go back.

An enormous slice of cheese pizza for $2.75 from Sweet Tomatoes is one of the yummiest, most affordable lunches available. The chunky tomato sauce is light and delectable and--yes--just a little bit sweet. The cheese is plentiful but not so much so that it creates a grease spigot when you fold it in half to eat it. If this place sold half-size salads to accompany these slices, that would rock! Maybe next time, I'll just bring a friend and we can split the super-big salad. How's that for looking on the bright side? Early lunch, late lunch, or something in between, there's always room to sit down and have your slice "for here." Also, I really liked that the woman behind the counter asked if I wanted my slice warm or hot. I have no willpower to wait for my slice to cool, and the warm one was the perfect temperature for eating--cheese was still slightly melty--so that made me all the happier. The roof of my mouth is happy, too.

This pizza is amazing. We got the buffalo chicken pizza. Best I ever had. Highly recommend them. Just a heads up they have 2 locations one in West Newton the other Newton Center, make sure you know which one you call. I learned the hard way!!

Only giving it a four because I haven't been there more than 2 times.. but i totally love this place. The slices are huge, and they make awesomely creative specialty pizzas with ingredients like potatoes and squash on them. Definitely a Newton staple - you have to try it.

I would have given them 4 stars, but not once have they had large whole wheat dough when I've ordered, so I always downsize to a medium. If it were my business, I'd increase the amount of whole wheat dough I order/prep and make more large-order sales!

After recently moving to West Newton I heard many good things about Sweet Tomatoes. The restaurant has a welcoming feel, clean appearance and a young customer following. On the way home this week I decided to stop in and grab a large cheese pizza to go. I was greeted with a smile and my order was ready within about 10 minutes. As I waited there were a few other customers sitting enjoying a full pizza or couple slices. The staff knows regulars by name and says hello as they walk through the door. A few minutes later my order was up and I was carrying my slightly larger than traditional box out to the door. The intoxication aroma of cheese, spices and tomatoes filled the interior of my car. A few times I had to stop myself from reaching in the box to sneak a bite. Once in my place I opened the box and tried out this local favorite. I would say it is worth the price you pay and hype is correct. A well balanced pizza with even cheese, seasoning and tomatoes. Next time I go I'll be sure to try out their Hawaiian Pizza (my personal favorite). I'll let you know how that goes!

We stopped into Sweet Tomatos for a snack after a movie at the West Newton Cinema. Service was friendly and the pizza was great! The ginormous slice had super thin crust, plenty of cheese, and LOADS of grease, just the way I like it! We got the "slice of the day," which, like all of their specialty pizzas, is a little out of the ordinary. Bear in mind that out of the ordinary does mean that it is going to hit your pocketbook a bit harder than Domino's. Think $10+ for a medium pizza, $9 for two (the equivalent of 4) slices and a water. While the restaurant is small, it is a great space with huge windows that make the three table seating area feel wide open. The only downside for us was that the sink in the bathroom wasn't working, yuck!

Overpriced and over-rated; plus they lose major points for not having a wheat crust pizza (seriously?). not impressed by this pizza....Sorry Newton-ians! Lack-luster and left me lusting for Pini's simple perfection; leave the fru-fru to some other time (and someone else's dime...)

A lot of toppings, very flavorful and much better than the Upper Crust

Mm mm mm.....I love Sweet Tomatoes. The pizza is neapolitan style, so it has a super thin crust, but unlike some thin crust pizzas, the crust isn't crunchy or dry. The tomato sauce is delicious, and has chunks of actual tomato in the sauce. Also, the toppings taste super fresh. Sweet Tomatoes doesn't deliver (at least the West Newton location doesn't), but taking a drive to pick up a pizza from Sweet Tomatoes is definitely worth it.

I can honestly say that Sweet Tomatoes is the best pizza I have ever had. Love the chunks of fresh tomatoes and the thin crust. I am not a big fan of the bready crust, thick layer of sauce, thick layer of cheese pizzas...so Sweet Tomatoes has everything that I LOVE in a pizza. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. Only downside is the parking situation and limited seating at the West Newton location. I have never been to the Newton Center location.

My favorite pizza in Boston. Cool, unusual toppings, handmade with love. Beware of the size - their large pizza is truly huge and easily feeds 6 people. Salads are fresh, cheap and a good complement to the pizza.

The best ultra big thing crust pizza in town. Their only other competition is upper crust which barely compares. Sweet Tomatoes gives you more for the money size and ingredients wise.

I love Sweet Tomatoes pizza. It is consistently good every time I go. I meet a friend there every Thursday night and we are never let down. We both agree it's the best pizza. It is usually staffed by three cute women; hey, every little thing helps, right? It's open 7 days a week. I have never brought anyone to Sweet Tomatoes and had them be less than satisfied.

Massive would be a word to describe a slice of pizza here. I bought 2 slices, not wanting a whole pie as I wasn't very hungry and expecting a normal sized slice for taste testing.Yeah, totally wrong, it felt like I ate a small pizza. Not that I'm complaining. it was delicious. I tried the plain pizza, which as a slice was good, but I imagine if you bought it fresh as a whole pie, it would be amazing. Just so good you couldn't stop eating good. I also tried the white cheese, which was 10x better than the plain. Me and cheese, we go way back, but this white cheese kicked it's butt to the curb, while taking names. Yeah, it was just that good. The bf tried the pepperoni which was really good. The massive amount of grease dripping from it only gave it another star of tastiness. I'd go back, but it's out of the way, so they should make a location in Allston or Brighton. oooo, i wonder if foodler delivers? That would be awesome.

I love Sweet Tomatoes! A little expensive, but worth it. I'm a half Italian Tri-state native and a lot of the pizzerias around here just don't cut it. I like the thin crust neopolitan style of Sweet Tomatoes. I've been known to scarf down half a pie in one sitting.
